It is definitely awesome watching the second and (3rd+) times around because of all of things you pick up like you said. However, I will say that nothing beats watching episodes like The Red Wedding and The Winds of Winter (just to name a couple) for the first time. Not needed, honestly. You can still watch HotD without first watching GoT. Not necessarily, but GOT is the original, so I suggest watching it first. HotD is a prequel to GoT. Which means the events of HotD happens before those of GoT. You can 100% watch HotD without ever having watched GoT. The combat and mechanics are below average, but the story is really good and is written by Geroge Martin and he appears as a character in the game too. ASOIAF has sex, it has violance, it has incest, it has it all, since that is how our world is and thus the basis Martin used to create his one. Just search for and download censored versions of episodes. I assume many countries show GOT, and some will have edited out the sexual scenes. IIRC Korea shows edited versions. I would suggest stopping after season 6. Season 7’s writing was awful, but no one knew it at the time because they, myself included, thought season 8 might tie up loose ends and fix plot holes.
